History of Calvary Chapel Academy
In 1999 the elders and pastors at Calvary Chapel Melbourne were led to open a preschool as a ministry that reached out to families with three and four year old children. The preschool was located in our current A building. Kindergarten was added in 2000, and first grade was added for the 2002-2003 school year. It was during this year that the kindergarten and first grade classes were moved to the brand new C building where the school is currently located.
In the fall of 2002 the pastors and elders felt God leading them to expand the school again. So by spring of 2003, it was decided that grades two through six would be added all at once the following school year, 2003-2004. In August 2003 Calvary Chapel Christian School, as it was originally named, opened its doors with 235 students, increasing from just 79 students the previous year. The following two school years, seventh and eighth grades were added, respectively. On May 21, 2006, Calvary Chapel graduated its first class of 8th graders.
In August 2007 the school was blessed with a large expansion, doubling the size of the school itself and area students could use. We now have a music room, art room, computer lab and library, all located on the first floor, each housed in oversized classrooms. In fall of 2008, the school updated its logo and changed its name to Calvary Chapel Academy.
Our students enjoy physical education in the Youth Center gymnasium and compete in volleyball, basketball, and soccer at various levels. Our students also participate in Art Club and Running Club, which are sponsored by staff members. We are currently in the process of acquiring accreditation through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and remain a member school of this organization.
With great anticipation, we look forward to God’s continued blessings upon Calvary Chapel Academy. To Him be the glory!
